I help people and small businesses that are facing financial difficulties.

Who I am

I am Ed Karfeld. I received my JD degree from the University of Missouri and was admitted to practice law in Missouri in 1967. I enlisted in the Marine Corps in my final year of law school. After my admission to the Missouri Bar, I attended the Marine Corps Officers Candidate School where I received a commission as Second Lieutenant.  I then attended The Basic School where I was trained as a Platoon Commander. After attending the Naval Justice School in Newport, Rhode Island, I served in the Marine Corps as a lawyer and a Military Judge from 1968-1970. My service included tours of duty with the: 2nd Marine Division at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina; 1st Marine Division in Viet Nam; 3rd Marine Division in Okinawa; and, Marine Corps Base at Quantico, Virginia.  I am a member of the Missouri Bar and Illinois Bar.

In 1971, I returned to my home town of St Louis, and began a private law practice with a focus on bankruptcy law and creditors rights. I bring more than 40 years of bankruptcy experience to my clients. I have served as both a Chapter 7 Trustee and a Chapter 13 Trustee, have authored and co-authored numerous publications and have lectured extensively on bankruptcy law for the Missouri Bar Association and the National Business Institute.  I have helped individuals, businesses, and municipalities in bankruptcy and in workouts outside of bankruptcy.
